This is a review I have been waiting a lot time to have the opportunity to write. Years ago, I starting using a video game controller made by Valve called the Steam Controller. Over time, I came to rely on the Steam Controller for any game that used keyboard and mouse inputs. I wrote a detailed review on the Steam Controller, but unfortunately reading it isn’t valuable outside of nostalgia, because Valve discontinued the device. It was long rumored that it was discontinued because Valve was designing its next iteration,…

Maileg Mouse in a Box
Not long ago, my sister bought one of my kids a Maileg Matchbox Mouse. This was a surprisingly big hit at that year’s Christmas. Due to limited stock, we’ve had to substitute a similar item at times for the kids (Foothill Toys Matchbox Mouse). Both the Maileg and Foothill versions basically consist of a little toy mouse with a matchbook bed; they come with a pillow, blanket, and a mattress. The Maileg mice are a bit smaller and look slightly different, but otherwise, they are fairly similar at a basic…
Read MoreKenshi
Kenshi is basically a game about survival and choice. It’s a true sandbox game, in that you can do pretty much whatever you want. You select a starting scenario, which sets you up with varying levels of money, friends, equipment, and locations. Then you’re dropped right into the world as a pathetic weakling at the mercy of Kenshi’s harsh environments and people. The story isn’t on rails like other games; it’s completely player driven and your tale sort of weaves itself as you play. The world essentially has lore and…
Read MoreDr. Pepper Cream Soda
I’ll start this review with a caveat; I already love Dr. Pepper. I also generally like all of the major brands, including Coke, Pepsi, and the aforementioned Doctor. Dr. Pepper occasionally releases limited edition flavors, which in my experience are usually really excellent. One of the recent ones, Dark Berry Dr. Pepper, was absolutely incredible. I’m sort of sad that one is gone now. Recently, they released Dr. Pepper Cream Soda, so naturally I had to give that one a try. Guess what? It’s really excellent, so now I have…

During all of our time at home during the pandemic, I’ve taken to brewing coffee at home exactly how I like it. Previously, when I was physically at work, I viewed coffee as more utilitarian. My coworkers and I shared coffee responsibilities, and when I was first in, I went for a simple and quick brew. At home though, I experimented with the amount of water and coffee to my exact preference, and even started adding some cinnamon directly to the grounds. Now that everyone has been increasing their office…
Read MorePortland Ketchup Company Organic Ketchup
I would recommend not ever trying this ketchup. I’ve always been a heavy ketchup user, and somewhat recently tried the Portland Ketchup Company version of the red stuff during a trip to Oregon. During the trip, I was absolutely amazed at how robust this ketchup is. I just didn’t know ketchup could have such an appealing flavor and consistency. It was really a condiment game-changer. Once we got home, I found myself disinterested in regular ketchup. “Why is this Heinz so liquidy and boring?!” I’d rant to anyone within earshot.…
Read MoreDragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen
I’ll get this out of the way from the top; Dragon’s Dogma is one of my favorite games of all time. But it’s not without flaws. The combat is phenomenal and is what I wish other games in the genre would use as a template for their combat systems. The skill setup, classes, and gear have significant depth and are implemented well. The pawn concept is also really well done. But some might find the world a little sparse compared to massive fantasy games like The Witcher 3. The story…
